چکیده

We analyze the allowed energy levels of Hawking radiation from Schwarzschild surfaces in space-times with large extra dimensions. From the requirement that the wave functions associated with these particles be single-valued and obey radial boundary conditions, we derive an upper bound of their discrete energy spectrum as a function of the number of large extra dimensions and the mass of the black hole. Furthermore, we investigate the spacing of the energy levels. Typeset using REVTEX

Bekenstein-Spectrum, Hawking-Temperature and Specific Heat of Schwarzschild Black Holes from Microscopic Chains on Euclidean Branes

We study the thermodynamic consequences of a recently proposed chain description for a Schwarzschild black hole arising from two mutually orthogonal Euclidean D3 − D3 brane-antibrane pairs. A discrete mass-spectrum of Bekenstein-type is inferred and it is shown that the chain’s temperature coincides exactly with the Hawking-temperature. Likewise the chain’s specific heat is shown to agree with ...

Schwarzschild black hole as a grand canonical ensemble

For long black holes have been considered as endowed with a definite temperature. Yet when the Schwarzschild black hole is treated as a canonical ensemble three problems arise: incompatibility with the Hawking radiation, divergence of the partition function, and a formally negative mean-square fluctuation of the energy. We solve all three problems by considering the Schwarzschild black hole as ...

Hawking radiation of black p-branes via gauge and gravitational anomalies

We investigate the Hawking radiation of black p-branes in superstring theories through the method of anomaly cancelation proposed by Robinson andWilczec et al. The metrics of black p-branes are spherically symmetric, but not the Schwarzschild type generally. We find that in order to make the method of Robinson and Wilczec et al. effective for the calculation of Hawking fluxes for general non-Sc...

Bekenstein-Spectrum, Hawking-Temperature and Specific Heat of Schwarzschild Black Holes from Microscopic Chains

We study the thermodynamic consequences of a recently proposed description for a Schwarzschild black hole based on Euclidean (D3,D3)+ (D3,D3) brane pairs described in terms of chain-like excitations. A discrete mass-spectrum of Bekensteintype is inferred and upon identification of the black hole mass with the chain’s energy the leading corrections to both Hawking-temperature and specific heat o...
